FORMER CHILD

Hello Friends:

January’s newsletter was written because I am frightened.  Through our discussions of evaluation/assessments, goals/objectives, and learning theory choices we have forgotten a very important experience for children, Natural/Spontaneous Play.  Even those early childhood programs that had Learning through Play in their descriptions have replaced the word Play with preparatory, academics and readiness….

I am hoping you will join me this New Year, 2011 in presenting workshops at conferences; having discussions with parents/guardians and conducting staff meetings on the importance of spontaneous play.  We need to prevent Play from going Extinct.
Happy New Year
